NATURAL BUILDING STUDIO
We see the construction industry changing from being a major contributor to climate change, to an industry where net-zero carbon buildings are normal, and ‘every-day’.
Our role is to design low energy buildings, using low carbon, breathable, natural materials; wood, clay, straw, hemp, stone, lime, earth, cork, bamboo.
Deep sustainability is our guiding principle, but we don’t loose focus on the things that bring joy to our built environment; beauty, space, light, form, art, nature, culture, life.
The results are beautiful, natural buildings, which are healthy for you, and healthy for our environment.
FOUNDER
Natural Building Studio was founded by Kit Smithson, Architect, BA, PGDIP.

Kit is qualified as a Retrofit Coordinator, and is registered with the Architects Registration Board.
ARCHITECTURE
We provide full architectural services:
1. Development of initial project briefs, and testing of project feasibility.
2. Concept designs and planning applications.
3. Coordination and management of project consultants/teams.
4. Technical designs and specifications for building regulations, tender, and construction.
5. Construction contract administration and site inspections up to completion and handover.
RETROFIT
We offer bespoke services for the design and risk management of domestic retrofit.
